Mission
The School has a mission that includes teaching, research, and service consistent with the broader missions of the University. We aim to offer a comprehensive and diverse range of programs that are responsive to emerging needs in local, national and global contexts and to collaborate with educators and other stakeholders to provide leadership across the full range of mathematics, science and technology education professions.
Vision
The Vision of the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education is to be a leader in providing innovative educational opportunities for learners within the global society and to develop new models for enhancing teaching and learning for mathematics, science and technology education.
Guiding Principles
We believe that every student has the right to be taught mathematics, science and technology by a highly qualified teacher - a teacher who knows the subject well and who can guide students' understanding and learning.
We endeavour to prepare highly qualified teachers who:
- understand how students learn mathematics, science and technology;
- employ a wide range of teaching strategies and use of innovative learning technologies to achieve excellent learning outcomes;
- are committed to lifelong professional learning; and
- possess a rich understanding of the changing world of children’s experience, of youth culture and the lives of students.
